Learning a new language can be a challenging endeavor, especially when you're starting from scratch. At Lanwick, we understand the struggle and believe in making the language learning journey as smooth as possible. That's why we offer a unique approach to teaching French by incorporating Hindi language examples alongside English, creating a bridge between the two languages.

In this blog post, we will explore how this approach can help Hindi speakers grasp French more effectively, leveraging the similarities between the two languages' structures, including masculine and feminine nouns.

Embracing Language Similarities:

French and Hindi share common features that make language learning more intuitive for Hindi speakers. Let's explore a few examples:

Possessive adjectives (Adjectifs possessifs):

As you can see, both Hindi and French use possessive adjectives to indicate ownership. The structure and usage are similar, where the possessive adjective agrees with the gender and number of the noun it modifies. This parallel helps Hindi speakers grasp the concept of possessive adjectives in French more easily.

Here’s another example of Past participle (Participe passé):

In both Hindi and French, the past participle of a verb can agree in gender with the subject or the object. In Hindi, the verb "khaaya / खाया" (eaten) changes to "khaayi / खायी" for the feminine subject or object. Similarly, in French, the verb "mangé" (eaten) changes to "mangée" for the feminine subject or object.

This similarity in gender agreement for past participles between Hindi and French helps Hindi speakers understand and apply the concept in French more easily.

By highlighting such similarities, we create a smoother transition for Hindi speakers learning French, allowing them to leverage their existing knowledge and language structure to grasp new concepts effectively.

Enhanced Comprehension:

By incorporating Hindi language examples, we provide a familiar context for Hindi speakers, enabling better comprehension and retention of French vocabulary and grammar rules.

For example, to teach the concept of adjective agreement, we can use Hindi examples like "unchi imaarat / ऊँची इमारत" (tall building) and "uncha pahaad / ऊँचा पहाड़" (tall mountain). Similarly, in French, we have "grand bâtiment" and "grande montagne". Since we can only use ‘tall’ in English irrespective of the noun’s gender, Hindi speakers can more easily relate to the usage of adjectives based on gender because of the similarity in Hindi and French.

At Lanwick, we believe in creating a language learning experience that is accessible, relatable, and effective. By incorporating Hindi language examples alongside English, we bridge the gap between Hindi and French, capitalizing on the similarities in language structures. This approach not only facilitates comprehension but also fosters a deeper cultural connection. Join us on this unique language learning journey, and unlock the beauty of French with the help of familiar Hindi language examples.
